Produced by Overture Global Entertainment, Live Nation and Mattel just announced "Barbie The Movie: In Concert", coming to life in a full-on concert experience. Live music will be served by The Barbie Land Sinfonietta, led by Orchestrator and Executive Producer Macy Schmidt’s all-women and majority women-of-color orchestra. Together, they'll be performing the film's award-winning soundtrack, side-by-side as the movie plays in its full glory on screen. Barbie Land™ is coming to town! The fantastic life in plastic is hitting the stage at Live Nation and Mattel announces the arrival of Barbie: The Movie - In Concert, back on the big screen. This time, the film will be played in its full glory under the starry night, accompanied by a live all-female and majority women-of-color orchestra led by Macy Schmidt. They'll be performing the film's award-winning score, side-by-side. The Barbie Land Sinfonietta will surely bring in new colors to the sounds of Barbie. As 2023's highest-grossing film, this one-of-a-kind immersive experience will definitely get young singing and dancing your hearts out.
BARBIE™ THE MOVIE: IN CONCERT™ will kick off its North American tour this summer, scheduled to bring back the film on the big screen across 37 cities. Its shows will bring the Barbie Land Sinfonietta to amphitheaters nationwide. It's time to unleash the Barbie girl inside of everyone. Family and friends will surely have a fantastic time to bond, singing and dancing the night away. There will also be limited-edition merchandise up for grabs, and an all-out photoshoot opportunity as the venue transforms into the pink heaven that is Barbie Land.
"Audiences of all ages flocked to theaters last summer to celebrate the joy of the Barbie movie together, Josh Silverman, chief franchise officer at Matter, shared in a statement. "Now fans have the opportunity to further celebrate Barbie with an unforgettable live musical experience, led by an incredibly talented all-women orchestra.
Music truly brings color into the wonders of Barbie Land. The original film bagged over 460 nominations in total, and winning about 120 awards and accolades from various organizations. These include 8 Academy Awards and 11 Grammy Award nominations. At the Grammys, the film marked its reign by winning three categories - Song of the Year, Best Song Written for Visual Media, and Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.
"Music lends so much heart and excitement to the Barbie film; between the stunning and clever orchestral score and the upbeat iconic pop soundtrack, music is carrying us through the story," Schmidt shared in a statement.
The live show, led by amazing women in music, partnering with Mattel's purpose for Barbie has become an inspiration for the orchestrator. "I’ve been so inspired by Mattel’s genuine commitment to everything this film stands for. I am particularly excited to be partnering with Mattel as I have long been inspired by Barbie’s purpose statement: ‘to inspire the limitless potential in every girl.’ she explained.
You can bet that the Sinfonietta will surely slay your favorite Barbie hits, including "Speed Drive" by Charlie XCX, "Pink" by Lizzo, "Journey to the Real World" by Tame Impala, "Dance the Night" by Dua Lipa, "What Was I Made For" by Billie Eilish, and many more.
