A Tour of Earth it definitely is, playing on a staggering 41-date trek, hitting up the biggest venues of their career so far, the band will travel across the length and breadth of North America, Europe, and the UK. The U.S. leg kicks off in Charlotte, North Carolina, travels through New York’s Madison Square Garden, Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheater, California’s Kia Forum, and more. Plus the band are bringing a collection of supporting acts along for the fun, playing at different venues each for the tour are; Kevin Abstract, Eyedress, Blondshell, and The Big Moon.
Tour of Earth 2024 supports the bands' upcoming brand-new album, I Love You So F***ing Much, set to be released just before the tour starts on July 19, 2024. At the announcement, frontman Dave Bayley talked a little about the new album, saying. “These are love songs. They look at all the twisted shapes and forms of love, good and bad. They were born out of a large existential crisis. So maybe it is fair to call them ‘existential love songs.’ I tried to work my way out of this existential crisis, and that resulted in some writing. That writing ended up being the backbone to this album.”
Inspired by the heat, he got into with the release of their sleeper smash sensation, “Heat Waves,” from mid-2020. The song grew to become the biggest single by a British band in more than 30 years. Over the span of two years the song climbed to the top of the singles charts in Australia, the U.K. and here in the U.S.A. It got the band nominated both at the Brit Awards and Grammy Awards in 2022.
“Life can change dramatically, but sometimes you aren’t able to change as quickly on a personal level,” Bayley said about the surprise success. “You end up feeling like a spectator. And then you are asked and expected to be a certain type of person, a different person. But… I wasn’t sure how. It confused me to the point of not knowing who I was or if anything was real.”
